Baby Steps

I collect vintage baby shoes. Not sure why. Just do. Whenever I see a pair... hanging just so, from their sweet worn laces in some little antique store... I just cannot help myself. The problem is keeping them away from my 7 year old daughter who loves to put them on her dolls and bears. They do look cute in them. My husband's grandmother recently presented me with a little bag tied in a bow. Inside was my husband's baby shoes. I was so touched - I immediately had tears in my eyes. I think it effected me so much because I know how hard it must have been for her to give them up. She has been hanging on to those sweet little shoes for 40 years. She raised my husband and he has always been her little sweetie boy. I will treasure them... and one day.... maybe one of my sweet grandchildren can try them on for size.

Oh my goodness, I would have been bawling... how sweet of your MIL.
Mine gave me her mother's wedding band. Said she had a dream one night and in it her mother told her to pass it down to me. Talk about bawling! lol!

How wonderful! For some reason, it's really neat to see the tiny things that big husbands used - it's fun for the kids to see them, too!
