My passive visitor....

Meet my passive friend, the Great Blue Heron.... he lives in my back yard about 8 months of the year. He is graceful, and beautiful and I look forward to his arrival every year. He takes my breath away. I think spring is finally upon us..... and I am truly lucky to enjoy such a site just outside my kitchen window.....

Maybe baby.....

I spent the first 25 (or so) years of my life saying that I would probably never have kids. 10 years and 3 kids later..... I think I have a baby fascination. I am attracted to cute little baby
cards.... I buy old baby shoes and socks..... I cannot quite tell myself that I will never be pregnant again... and yet.... my house is over-flowing, my car is cramped.... there couldn't really be room for one more....could there??? Never say never.... but its hard to say no more.....

Isn't there ANYTHING blooming yet??

When your a Canadian girl you can get a little desperate around this time of year to see a little bit of something - anything - green in the garden. Every night when I get home from work I do the walk through my garden.... searching...... Nothing yet. The crocus are just starting to peek up. It has still been snowing twice this week and its supposed to be -8 tonight. Perhaps all this waiting will make it that much sweeter when I can finally dig into that luscious dirt!! Until then, my potted plants will just have to do! They too are lovely.....

Lost letters

I was thrilled to receive in the mail tonight 3 packages of old love letters that I purchased from www.CitrusFaire.etsy.com May I just say that I adore them. I haven't even read them yet, and I adore them. The 1944 postmarkings, the old stamps, the handwriting. I often wonder how such sweet sentimental things can be given up for sale but I suppose that as time marches forward - memories are lost and people are forgotten. I can hardly wait for a stolen moment to take a glimpse into these aging envelopes. I thought this little notebook that I made recently went along beautifully with their patina. Thank you Citrus Faire!

One Lost Soul Swimming in a Fish Bowl

When a dear friend of mine told me that she was surprised to learn things about me (photo at left... circa 1971)after reading my blog..... I got to thinking......are we just lost souls dreaming about what we really want to be doing? When we are brought into this big scary world we are told alot of things and unfortunately some of the things that we should just "know" are lost along the way. Are you living the life you truly want to live? Are you spending your days with those you truly wish to spend them with?? And if your lucky enough to know just exactly what you want to be doing with your time..... are you brave enough to go after it????

Sunday again.....

I hope you shared a wonderful day with your family. I was exhausted today after staying up too late and getting up too early with my three little chocolate hunters. I spent the rest of the day trying to keep them out of the chocolate - and there is ALOT of chocolate. The weather was so beautiful today that we were able to enjoy some time outside and it was a refreshing change. I am so ready for spring. I saw a Robin today - a certain sign. I am looking happily forward to tomorrow when I will be able to take my two sweathearts for a special day.

Time well spent....

Yesterday I was able to spend the entire day by myself and shopping. A little bit of heaven - until I heard a small child crying....mommy..... and then my pleasure became a guilty one! I found this adorable little hat at a thrift store and I just knew it would look so sweet on her....... but as I look into those young lady eyes..... I have to wonder...... where did my baby go???

I am reminded of a quote well said by Jackie Kennedy, "If you bungle raising your children, I don't think whatever else you do matters very much." When my patience is waining, this quote comes to mind, and it transports me back to what is really important in my life and where my focus should always be.

Happy Easter

Happy Easter! Easter is one of my favorite times of the year. The pastel decorations, the chocolate, the time with family, did I mention the chocolate?? This is one of my favorite vintage postcards. Kind of quirky but pretty cute. Hope everyone has a wonderful long weekend. Don't eat too much..... chocolate!!

Sweet Princess of Mine

Tonight we enjoyed a game of dress-up. Isn't there just something so sweet about a little girl dressed up in pearls and beads. Thank Heaven for little girls.

New Camera!

Ok! I now FINALLY have my new camera. It is so hard to wait for things sometimes! And.... I am about to take a few days off from work so hopefully I can have time to play and make all of this come together. Here is my first picture! This little bird is nesting in my kitchen.... must be a sign of spring! I hope!!
