Velvet Love

I told myself I would NOT buy another vintage jewelry box.... until I found this one.... the color of that blue velvet just makes me swoon. I am totally loving velvet these days. The cost was $4.00. I couldn't walk away. These little cuties were in a bag of vintage things I bought. They are in the most amazing condition. Their clothes are just so well kept. Somebody loved them.... they are going up on etsy....

I purchased this silk floral pin keep... this is the inside.... love the rusting pin that has probably been there for years and years.... (my husband is shaking his head in wonder at me)

So pretty.....

Also bought these vintage scissors. I am always amazed at how the quality of vintage items surpasses those of today's items. I would gladly buy something old and used and know it is going to last me a very long time.

And another pin keep... the velvet fascination again. Super sweet and only about an inch and half big.

And again, old velvet iris flower.... wrinkled, worn, and stained..... just my speed!

Killarney Ontario

Here is a few more photos of our trip to Kilarney... which was my first visit to our new cottage. This is the view on the boat ride to the cottage..... towering rock walls covered in pine trees.... just breathtaking.... This is the back of the cottage.... those are bear scratches.... I admit I did some reading up on black bears and what happens if you run into them.... we haven't yet....(counting blessings)

There and Back Again

We drove 7 hours by car, one hour by boat. It was peaceful, remote, quiet, breathtakingly beautiful. We're all so glad we went.....

But so glad to be home again. There really is no place like home. More photos soon! Back to reality and work! Have a great day.

I love vintage children's books and I try and hoard them away from my kids. Bad mommy.

I want another baby. Is 4 too many? Is 38 too old? Am I too crazy?

I have a fascination with Paris.... always wanted to go..... hubby doesn't. I need a travelling partner. Hard to go to Paris with 4 babies.

My husband and I recently bought a cottage up in Kilarney, Ontario. I haven't seen in yet. Crazy again.

I love everything Pam Garrison makes.

Art Journal

This is the cover of my new art journal. Its a vintage atlas. This paper is a Somerset "Art to Borrow" by Pam Garrison. Its one of my favs....I have been busy busy with my art journal. This activity has really taken over for me. It is a time that relaxes and soothes me. I love looking back and reading the entries because I forget everything so quickly these days... its terrible! Sometimes one of my daughters will want to write something.... which I love too.... such a keepsake....

Sometimes just cut and paste pictures or art that inspires me....

Sometimes no words at all....

Sometimes a photograph which captures a feeling I am having at that moment in time.

Through my childhood I also attempted to keep diaries but after a few entries they would be left to the wayside.... this is a journal that has finally caputured my interest.... at least for now.
